Disability workshops at the Nomad Theatre

What is Play in a Week?

Play in a Week is a annual, week-long event held at the Nomad Theatre in East Horsley, Surrey, in the UK, involving local disability organisations including The Grange Centre, the Queen Elizabeth Foundation and the Freewheelers. The week of rehearsals, set-building, painting and technical work culminates in the performance of the play in our 120 seat auditorium, with a full audience.

This year's Play in a Week performance was entitled the Key. Click here for more information.

Play in a Week is part of our 'Let Loose' programme, letting loose as many disabled people's talents as we can. It includes Taster Days to introduce organisations to drama, whole and half day series of workshops for individual and groups of organisations, talks to disability and other organisations, the Acting for All workshops for two weeks at Easter, and then every summer, Play in a Week. All the workshops are run by our professional tutors with experience of dealing with disabled people. We have other related activities in the pipeline. Some 12 organisations are now involved with us in one way or an other.
